In the midst of a 300+ acre CRP field which is surrounded by the Winnebago Indian Reservation rests the grave of "Bailey".
Im glad I found this. This hunt was very tiring and physically grueling. In fact, I recall walking up a terrace or two where I had to come to a full stop, out of breath and bracing my weight up against my gun and cueing the "vibrate" function of my GSP`s collar to get her to hold up and wait for me. Thinking this whole morning was a waste, I spotted this:
A hand carved rose on the top of the marker. Also, a found piece of drift wood which is in the shape of a cross wrapped around this monument.
I think that this photo says more than I can. Someone loved this dog very much and was pained upon its ending.
This grave is almost invisible, situated amongst the tall brome and other unforgiving and tangled up bird cover: An appropriate burial ground for a bird dog. After all, this is where they are the most.
This one`s for Bailey: Rest in peace bird dog.
